Maybe I expected too much out of this, but I was entirely unimpressed; I struggled to even read such a small book.

A while ago, Theresa and I made a pact to maybe start a book club with just two of us. This was on our list as the first book and I never made it through. I wanted to try it again because Theresa really liked the book and read it in high school, so I read this on the plane ride home from Florida and I loved it so very much. It reminded me a lot of The Alchemist because of overlapping themes.

i liked when he talked about words never being able to truly articulate a feeling

Fragile and moving, a wonderful experience of Hesse’s work exploring Buddhism and the path to enlightenment. Reading this felt like a spiritual experience.
