Das Finden liegt nicht in der Suche
I first read Siddhartha for my literature class and later used it for my IB Oral, and it remains one of the most rewarding texts I have studied. Hesse’s retelling of Siddhartha’s journey is as engaging as it is profound, blurring the line between fiction and self-help. Its lessons speak across time, offering guidance not only to those seeking meaning but also to anyone navigating the quiet hunger of existence.
Kamala’s death struck me deeply. She had freed herself from the constraints of her work and the expectations tied to her femininity, only for her story to end abruptly. Yet even in that tragedy there was purpose, a reminder of how fragile freedom and love can be.
What lingers most is the book’s exploration of grief and the restless search for the self. It is written with a haunting clarity that feels both timeless and intimate. A truly great read, one that continues to whisper its truths long after the final page.

I thought the writing itself was quite nice, and I definitely found parts of the book relatable. I think what I did not really enjoy was that it felt like a very male perspective, which isn’t really surprising as the protagonist is a male. Just felt a bit bland and monotonous for me.
