if you took a shot every time the author mentioned his “beautiful” blonde hair and how much everyone loved it… you would black out.
mother had no voice and her perspective was not included. author needs to deal with a lot of internalized stuff around his arab side. not enough criticism for whiteness and the west.
and btw: keep persepolis name out your mouth when discussing this book. don’t Ever disrespect satrapi like that.
