I got really tired of all the weird combos... rose-orchid, tango-waltz...I couldn't visualize either of those, for example. And I kept tripping over meta-syn-sen-sync-something or other. It was SO constantly referred to. I ended up speed reading through large parts of the book. I'm really glad this is the last of this series.

Rafe is an off the charts Strat Talent, which is on the "primitive" side of the spectrum. He walked away from the family business, knowing he wouldn't be able to work FOR his grandfather. He works in investments, with a side hobby of investigation. Now though, the family business is at risk, and his cousin ... who looks to be next in line ... wants to destroy the company in revenge for the death of his father. Rafe is making plans to be the next CEO, but he needs a wife ... ASAP.

Once again Hobart Bats is tapped to find Rafe a suitable match ... with very specific requirements. When it's clear to Rafe that Bats probably won't find a match in time .. He goes on the hunt.

Orchid is the romance writer the previous books keeps mentioning. She also happens to be an Ice Prism, who works for Psynergy, Inc. She comes from a very Zen family, but she's the black sheep who broke from the fold ... so she's working hard on her writing, but does focus work on the side to supplement her income.

Rafe has been out hiring full-spectrum prisms, looking for a viable wife candidate. He seems to be taken with Orchid, even though she really doesn't fit most of his parameters. His frivolous cases turn into a pretty serious investigation, and Orchid decides she's well-adept for investigative type work. The case eventually ties back to Orchid's past.

These two are my favorite in this trilogy. Although, I'm not sure why the men ... who are friends ... interact so seldom. Overall, the series would have been so much enjoyable had the women actually interacted with each other.

St. Helen's is the first series by Jayne Castle I have read. While it has all the trademark cliches of classic PNR novels, the thing that sets it apart is off-the-charts chemistry between main couple that sizzles from the pages and intriguing mystery that makes it unputdownable.
I enjoyed it very much, and I will definitely read more from this author.

This is the third book in a paranormal series taking place in the lost colony of St. Helen’s on a new planet that somewhat resembles Earth. Amaryllis and Zinnia are equally compelling reads if this is your genre. As a top psychic prism for Psynergy Inc., Orchid Adams has found it hard to get a date. Not many people out there who can handle an off-the charts talent like hers. Maybe that’s why she’s so fascinated by her new client: Rafe Stonebraker, a rough-and-ready, rich, unlicensed P.I. who’s hired Orchid to help him on some cases. When one case turns into a murder involved people Orchid knows, too, the case brings them closer and closer to danger, and each other. Why not have a torrid affair while working on a case? It’s not like either of their marriage agencies have found matches for them yet. Maybe natural synergy is taking over where modern society has failed, making the match for them…

Delightful conclusion of the three friends, great worldbuilding, strong hero and heroine with great chemistry.
