This book is magnificent. I could hardly put it down. The author captured so many different mother child experiences so well. She wrote such authentic characters who are flawed and beautiful and hopeful and wonderful.

Annoying story of a pathetic spoiled brat who viewed her life through the lens of her (understandable) adoption. Although the book wasn't intended in this way, it is a cautionary tale about the risks of developing an identity focused on victimhood and how that drives emptiness and narcissism, as well as the risks associated with developing an idealised view of relationships (romantic and parental).
Only redeeming factor was the last few pages where the central character finally began to focus on someone other than herself.
I found this book interesting at the level of it unintentionally reflecting the current culture, which is highly self-obsessed, self-centred, and thoroughly unrealistic.
