This was a creepy, suspenseful gothic tale. Jo Furniss did a fantastic job with the setting and created an atmosphere of unease throughout the story. My one gripe is that there was not enough interaction between the characters. I never got a full picture of the relationships between Rose and Dylan, Dylan and his mother, etc.

I enjoy stories with old secrets, and I admit I’m a devoted Anglophile. So the setting of an old mansion sitting on a centuries-old manmade hill, with suspicious deaths in the past, checked my boxes quite nicely. The Last to Know is a satisfying read for those who share these interests. It’s not one that is going to stick in my mind for long, but it was entertaining.

This suspenseful tale set in England had Gothic vibes throughout, I couldn't put it down! Psychological suspense with a creepy house, gossiping neighbors, dark and stormy weather, secrets galore!

Rose and her family moved to her husband’s ancestral home, Hurtwood House, in England, but Rose feels something is off with her new surroundings. Shortly after Rose and her family moved in, archaeologists discovered human remains on the family property. Rose learns that the suspicion and mysteries surrounding Dylan’s family and the house have lasted over twenty years. Dylan’s family is now in the spotlight again, and police are investigating the case. As the investigation unfolds, Ellie, a local police officer is determined to find the truth, and Rose is also looking for answers.

This book is a slow-burn haunting whodunnit. Switching between Rose and Ellie's perspectives, the book reels you with the many twists and turns as the author creates a gothic and haunting narrative. The plot was somewhat slow at times, and some things did not make sense to me, but overall, the book was really good and kept me guessing until the end.

Thank you to NetGallery and to Lake Union Publishing for my copy of the book.

2.5, but I couldn’t round up to 3. The creepy parts of this worked well, and the characters are all likeable and relatable, but something about the cohesiveness of the plot did not work for me.

"People in small towns," Dylan shifted the rug to the other shoulder, "carry a grudge like a genetic condition. You kick one person in the shin, and half the town limps."

This was an interesting story about family, love and home - about leaving as a young man and coming back home a man with a wife and family. It's about long held secrets and mistakes made in your youth. It's a good mystery, one that I didn't guess the elements or moving parts until I was almost at the end. The author did a good job of flushing out characters and a town and its gossip, assumptions and long held secrets. I enjoyed it.

Loving 2020 books so far! This one was eerie and somewhat supernatural. The differing POVs was done very well, which I appreciate (some authors simply just cannot manage them). The story progressed smoothly and was a fun, creepy read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 there was a LOT going on in this book, which, at times, made it kinda hard to follow. It was a good mystery, though, and full of dark and spooky things - perfect for this time of year. I am pretty sure it’s from Kindle Unlimited.

The last to know is a book that keeps you guessing "who dun it".it is narrated by two characters-Rose, the classic reporter, desperate to get to the bottom of the case that is still affecting her family, and the senior Sergeant Ellie who wants to put to rest the only case that still haunts her.The book starts out slow but slowly picks up the pace and finishes strong. The writing is impressive and engaging.

Thank You Netgalley, the author and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review #TheLastToKnow
