A MG book perfect for summer & fans of The Vanderbeekers and Penderwicks.
🛶
It’s just Ryanna and her dad living in LA and then more recently her stepmother. She loves their life together, but when her deceased mother’s parents reach out to ask if Ryanna will spend the summer at a Pennsylvania summer camp with them, she agrees so that she can learn more about the mom that died when she was four. What she learns is that she has so many family members and hears lots of stories about her mom through them. She also gets to help solve a decades-old mystery in the process.

This was a romping good time of a book! A fun middle grade novel full of adventure, family and summer activities. I loved the diversity and a great foray into middlegrade books for @morgamat

CW: death of a parent

A little long for a MG novel.

Even as an adult, I found this to be a great summer read. Meet Ryanna. She meets her family and begins to find out more about her mom. Mom passed away when Ryanna was young. She gets to go to camp, form bonds with her cousins, and go on adventures for the summer.

Matson created characters I loved, making this one of my top picks for fun summer reads. I was transported to a summer camp with a wonderful, big family and fun adventures.

Thank you to Netgalley, Simon & Schuster Canada, and Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers for an eARC in exchange for my honest review!

First of all I love this cover! Second I absolutely loved this book! It was so summery and wholesome and reminded me of growing up camping with all my aunts and uncles and cousins in the summer!
