This was such a good start to her new series. Love this family so much. Nixon and Kenzie were so sweet and cute together. Looking forward to the next book. Highly recommend the audio.

This would have been five stars but the misunderstanding and the resolution with the doctor kind of knocked it down

it was fine. kinda cute. the 20+ characters who were related and/or friends made it pretty confusing tho.

What a great first book to start a new series!

I finally got my book wish because Nixon is just one of those side chars I’ve had my eye on since I encountered him in Ares and Grace’s book. Plus, that winning shot in The Sweet Spot? Ugh! That was the exact moment when I had the thought, “I need me a Nixon book!” It was perfect because Kenzie’s always been just a bit out of touch with everyone, always virtually present but physically absent. I was like, “When is this girl going home anyway?” And well, here she is and here we are, kicking off a new book to the tune of Nix and Mac.

I love me a good, well-written “It’s Always Been You” story. Like, if I’m wanting to feel swoons, this kind of story is always my go-to.

* Girl squad - always tops in EVERY BOOK! The friendships built by these women are something we all strive for irl.
* Hilarious family banter - Hey, in a town where everyone is basically related to each other one way or another, there will be zero boundaries. Teasing and calling you out is a love language. I don’t make the rules.

The absolute best thing I truly loved in this book? Nix and Easton’s agreement. It irks me so much when the brother’s/bestfriend’s/teammate’s sister book plots take longer because of the rift between the two guys in the FMC’s life. Sometimes, the arguments are illogically prolonged. Not here though. Both Easton and Nix are natural protectors since they have sisters. And while Easton’s points were valid, I loved how Nix explained it in a way that Easton understood.  Like, YES! THANK YOU, NIXON JOSEPH SINCLAIR! IT HAD TO BE SAID!

Now. On to pressing matters. Who manages the Kroydon Chronicles and where can I apply to be an insider?

I love these books. Their fast pace feel goods with a huge family! Nixon and Mac were fun and sweet! Nixon has had a thing for Mac since they were 13. Mac is completely oblivious, but they find their way. He gives her spicy lessons that quickly turn into love! They’re sweet and sexy!

Overall this was a pretty good read. This was my first book by this author and it might be my last, even though I enjoyed it for the most part.

This is Book 1, but the book assumes you know a whole lot of characters and their relationships without much (or any) explanation. I’m assuming there are other series they were in, or maybe the author is just really bad at this. Even if there are other books and I had read them, unless I went on a binge I would want some reminders. There are cousins and uncles and friends and some married each other and other people died. I knocked a full star off for spending a lot of the book confused about who half of these people are.

There’s kind of a 3AB. It’s really dumb and unnecessary. Her reaction was stupid and she knew it was stupid and it should have just been edited out because it contributed nothing. I knocked a full star off for that.

There’s a scene where the FMC’s mom’s best friend tells the FMC she’s going to tell her a story someday. Sounds like it’s probably interesting. We never get the story. Is that in one of those other books that maybe exists that I maybe should have read first? If so don’t bring it up. Again this is Book 1 of a series. Or maybe the author just damgled it and forgot about it. I didn’t drop a star for that but as I type this I’m kind of having regrets.

This book moved way too fast. It felt messy. The trade drama was unnecessary and the suicide was also very unnecessary. I know it’s a stand alone and a first in the series but it was a bit confusing because it seemed we should have known a lot of the previous characters. I love when characters from previous books make a scene but it was too many and this was the first book of the authors I’ve read.

All in all, I probably won’t continue the series. The spice in the book was nice but that’s about it for me.

I wasn’t really a fan of either main character, but I thinks that’s because how rushed it was and it felt like I was suppose to already know more info about them.
