Oh MAN this book — and Daphne and Miles and all their issues — burrowed its way into my heart. I spent four hours reading in the sun on the dock, because I absolutely could not put it down. All of Daphne and Miles’s hardships hit deep, and watching them work through it as individuals and together… gods, it was beautiful. And I will defend them as long as I need to, because anyone who doesn’t love Miles is wrong.

Shelve this beside Book Lovers on my Emily Henry favorites list!

I always enjoy EmHen reads in the moment, but for whatever reason, I don’t find that her leads stick with me the same way main characters from other authors do, for whatever reason - I can’t really remember much about Poppy and Alex or Harriet and Wyn. I do feel like Daphne and Miles will be more memorable, but time will tell. EH does write great settings, and this was no exception: I really enjoyed spending time in Waning Bay and with the broader cast of characters, and there are several very funny moments. The initial premise bringing the MCs together was pretty silly but ultimately not that important to the arc of their relationship, and I thought the individual issues they both worked through were really well done. The circumstances of their family relationships felt specific and unique, and I appreciated the emphasis on building an individual identity.
