I might just be emotionally vulnerable right now (immediately post-break up) but this was so so sweet and heartwarming.
Miles is such a sweetheart, I'm obsessed with his characterization. Almost wish it had been dual pov so we could've gotten a bit more insight into his actions and feelings for Daphne. Speaking of Daphne, she was an okay character. To be honest she doesn't stand out to me much from other Emily Henry main characters. But I still liked her and I thought Miles and Daphne worked well with each other.
Plot and premise wise this book was funny, well thought out, and paced almost perfectly. I do wish we got a little bit more towards the end, I think the conflict resolution would have benefitted from being just a bit longer alsoI saw another comment suggest that seeing Daphne actually reject a job offer would've been really satisfying and I completely agree.

Before we get into the negatives, let me first list out the positives. THIS WAS ENJOYABLE. It was. And the banter was fun. I liked Ashleigh and Julia as characters since they felt the most authentic. I also liked the jobs the author chose for each character, they were fitting and actually made sense instead of being there just ‘cause. Feels like there was more effort put into it.
But. Miles felt a little flat, to be honest. I enjoyed his dialogue and when he’s just being Miles, but the way he still went after Petra just because she was crying—like he had some boyfriend responsibility over her—irked me beyond belief. His character being this “unbelievably nice and never angry” guy just seemed really robotic to me.
+ even though Petra and Peter were the whole cause of this, these two important characters who were steering Daphne and Miles together, they felt like plot devices. Just so that there could be misunderstandings. They had no depth or personality anywhere. The only times they appeared were to push things forward. Literally. And then they broke up out of the blue?? It felt so forced.
I think this particular book by Emily Henry was just not for me.
A pretty enjoyable and easy read but not that memorable.

I read this book in three sittings and i really enjoyed it! I don’t typically read romance, but this is the second one and i could see myself reading more! (both were Emily Henry, the first was Book Lovers)
I also get scared that I won’t be able to relate to the characters in these types of books, but I’m 21 and found a lot in common with the 30 y.o. characters! (friendship and relationship wise)
Not a big deal, but I did notice that “chortle” and “sidelong” were used quite frequently. It made me giggle seeing that the author has specific words they keep coming back to, but it can be a turnoff.
Overall, an epic book. I plan to read more of Emily Henry in the future! :D

Song Association: I’m Only Me When I’m With You by Taylor Swift
Notable Quote: “You aren’t what I pictured,” I say. “You are so, so, so much better than what my cynical little brain could’ve ever come up with.”
Brief Summary: When Daphne’s fiancé leaves her for his childhood best friend, she’s forced to move in with her ex’s new fiancée’s ex.
The Praise: I loved this so, so, sooooo much. Daphne was so relatable and Miles was so sweet. The story itself was interesting and fun, and I loved the side characters.
The Critique: I would’ve liked for Peter to get hit by a bus, but alas.
Final Thoughts: So sweet, funny, and emotional. Sliding in as a favorite of the year with only a little over a month left!

This is just superb. I was partially expecting a fake dating quick and dirty rom-com and I can't possibly have been more wrong and glad about it.
Daphne and Miles are an adorable duo, and you can't help falling in love with them just as they fall in love with each other. It was such a sweet, and somehow heart-wrenching story and if you love a romance you absolutely must read this because it's just that good.
