Emily Henry does it again. At the closing paragraph I literally gasped aloud, "that was so good."

I love how every supporting character is always fully formed and contributes to the plot/mc growth.  The small town hominess was like its own character and that alone was inspiring. I somehow always relate to every one of her books, but this one really resonated and healed a part of me right along with Daphne.

If I were to have any complaints (are we playing Whiny Babies?) it would simply be to lament that the book is entirely in Daphne's POV. I'm a sucker for a dual or multi-POV.

Trying to explain the set up to this plot to someone is like trying to explain how that distant cousin is related to someone outside your family. It 100% makes sense when you can explain it with good details, but gets messy in the TL;DR. But IT WORKS. It's the gentlest friends-to-lovers, found family, "I can't let you hurt me because it will break me" love story.

This is Emily Henry at her best. With witty dialogue and loveable characters, she puts a charming, chaotic spin on the fake dating trope and tells a wonderful story of self-reflection and finding home. As always her characters feel real, the emotions are raw, and the descriptions are vivid enough to make you feel like you're really there, alongside Daphne.
