Another great read by Emily Henry! I love the way she writes banter between characters. There was strong character development for the female and male leads. It was great to see Daphne build multiple different kinds of  relationships and not just a romantic one. I also enjoyed how we kept peeling back the layers of both of them through different adventures and conversations. The slow build was believable and real.

okay emily henry girlies i get it. this was really fun and heartwarming. the characters were rich and interesting and i cared about them as people.

as a michigander from birth, i am convinced emily henry is backed by the pure michigan ad campaign. and i am not mad about it because i love reading about michigan. mitten state representation is very important!

the only reason the ranking isn't higher is that we got a triple whammy miscommunication in the third act. and it is my least favorite trope in books.

overall a great read!

A solid read. It’s much better than Happy Place was, thank goodness. I liked and related to Daphne, and I really liked Miles!

DID NOT FINISH: 32%

I like my spice on the mild side with not going farther than a make out session on the page. After the first “slightly heavier spice” encounter in this one, I lost my book appetite. The writing was good though and the characters sweet. I was invested in the story up to that point

A quick, fun, delightful, engaging romance read. Emily Henry does my favorite kind of romance - the characters have realistic motivations, difficult backgrounds, and emotional insight. The banter is bantering and the connection between characters doesn't feel contrived. I enjoyed the personalities of both MCs and appreciated the wholesome-yet-damaged backgrounds.

My only gripe is that the misunderstanding/alienation phase was so short and easily resolved. Honestly. Our MC worked harder to regain the affection of her upset friend than she did for her paramour.

Overall super fun and I want to rate it highly, but not 5 stars, because it lacked some of the depth of emotion I would prefer. And while it wasn't instalove it sure felt like it at times; we never see the MMC fighting against his own hold ups.
