ā€œSometimes, the hardest thing to be is the one who lives.ā€

This final volume was intense to say the least! Such a lot going on I donā€™t even KNOW where to start.

I did guess one of the biggest reveals and how things would work out at some point.

Laurelā€™s character gave me chills, the Masters had me sick to my stomach, Lorelai shook my to my core.

On the other hand we have Judd, who is so heartwarming. Sloane, the most precious; Dean, who feels everything but never shows; Lia, the cold woman with a heart of gold; Michael, the raw and vulnerable tease. And Cassie, who went through hell and back.

Honestly I really was fascinated by the way this book pictures and deals with trauma, how it sheds light on different coping mechanisms our brains set into place (from shutting down to compartimentalizing, to the development of a new personaā€¦), the way our psyche instinctively deals with the incomprehensible.

I will miss this group of characters and I would love a spin-off of them as adults, with the Naturals program growth. Their charactersā€™ development was great.

Only complaint would be that I wish we knew more about how the Masters first came to be, what were their ā€œmotivationsā€ and how they managed to do all the things they did if there were only a few of them (we do get a partial answer on that aspect but itā€™s quite light in my opinion).

4.5 stars rounded up for GR.

My only problem with this book is that it feels like there are TOO MANY revelations. Like
how did TA Geoff make it into serial killer cult lineup?
. Complaints aside, the twists did make it interesting just that it seemed like the author was trying so hard to keep us on our toes that it caused me to actually not even care anymore whenever shocking things happened. WARNING. YOU WILL SOB

This book was so creepy but so good but so creepy. Iā€™m scarred for life. But it was so good.
Dean is a 4lifer. The way he would do anything for her has me on the floor giggling. That last scene where Cassie could tell how much he had done to see her I was-

I know this is the last book. I know that Cassie's Mother's case needed to be close. But I just can't help but be disappointed that Lia's life didn't discuss properly? Like its too short. I want more. And about the serial killer's cult. They been killing many many years ago but they got caught easily??? I mean not that easy but???? Its really shortšŸ˜¤

Anyway, Celine and Sloane thoughtā¤ still a good series.

Damn, it pains me to say this, but I liked this book the least out of the four in the series. I was enjoying it a lot, but the end was so abrupt and the plot got solved in the last 50 pages.

I loved the main characters being a family and Dean begrudgingly admitting he loves Michael couple of chapters after they got into a fist fight is such sibling energy. Also Cassie catching Lia in a lie at the very end was such a great moment.
I love Sloane, but in this book every single one of her lines was a fact she recited, it was a bit much.

Also, my biggest pet peeve in thrillers are plot twists that have to do with twins and this book had a small bit regarding that.

I am absolutely and utterly shocked. Jennifer Lynn Barnes has me absolutely shocked. My jaw has dropped and Iā€™ve had to pause reading so many times because I cannot comprehend how Barnes thought of this, and connected it so well. The way that the other books with seemingly unrelated topics/cases all tie together is absolutely brilliant. I was 100% addicted to this whole series. I want so badly for there to be more of these books. These books were such good ya suspense/thriller books, I highly recommend.
