Very much in the middle this one imo. I wanted to dnf it honestly, but then decided to finish it just to actually know how it plays out (and I had time to). I’m not mad at it. Maybe I get why some ppl think it’s a fascinating read in terms of a character study and how life happens to us and how we deal/don’t deal with that. Maybe if I read it at a different time, idk. Just wasn’t for me; found it hard to reach for. The main character is more annoying than fascinating imo. She is not meant to be likeable per se and neither is her famous writer-lodger, and all of the characters are flawed ppl which can be a frustratingly fun read but I didn’t really think so unfortunately

Never have I underlined and starred so many sentences and passages. A clear break in style from the Outline trilogy but still deeply analytical in its psychological observations. I really admire Cusk’s ability to produce continuously dynamic fiction!

i’m not nearly enough intelligent to understand most of this book but holy cow was it mesmerizing. There are so many lessons here about marriage, relationships, motherhood… even though this is fiction, it borderlines non fiction. I just loved it

This book took me on a descent into madness and I enjoyed every second of it
