Quite interesting and a strong voice but somehow didn't quite work for me. It's at the same time a rewarding read (with some clear and strong moments) and an arduous one (for me at least). Atmospheric and dark, grimy. I think I'd really like to read Cusk's other stuff even though this one didn't quite come to me at the right moment.

Not something I would normally read, but it gripped me from the first moment. Beautifully written. Tense, bleak and revealing. Sometimes funny in a dark way.

I liked it, but I think I'd appreciate it more if I understood the source reference material, Lorenzo in Taos which was only referenced in the epilogue.
