Jumping right into the story from page one, this tale demands the reader’s notice.

Schwartz fits a lot of goodness into a small package with Demon Hunter. Despite the unprepossessing cover, the book inside compares favorably to Ilona Andrews (especially her new Sweep series), with intriguing world-building and top-notch characters. I particularly enjoyed the hints of Australia, which made this book yet more different from your run-of-the-mill urban fantasy.

My only complaint is that quite a few pages are devoted to explicit sex, which waters down the story a bit. Still, I'd snap up book two in a heartbeat should it become available.

Speaking of the sequel --- I was a bit leery to begin book one without knowing if book two is slated for release anytime soon. So I was very glad to learn that this book ends with a solid resolution and can be considered a standalone easily. However, the characters are so good I'd still love to read book two!
