so bloody boring omfg. i literally chose this bc its the shortest mariana zapata book so i thought id read it quick when in reality its put me in such a slump bc nothing happens. i liked the setting and the idea of a pop romance but there was no chemistry, hardly any plot and the characters were so unlikeable and offensive... very disappointed ugh

I love MZ and have read 11 of her books at the time of writing this review. This is the worst of her catalogue that I've read so far. There was so much unnecessary misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, and shaking sex workers that just isn't in her other books. I was baffled to see so much. I loved the relationship of the core characters, but you can definitely tell this is one of her earlier releases.

There is a lot of blatant transphobia in this book that was awful and took away from any of the goodness that might’ve come from the rest of the book. Also, there’s a lot of slut shaming and internalized misogyny that is never resolved.

The story was readable and at times enjoyable. But the ongoing jokes were ignorant and problematic. There were offhanded comments and jokes throughout the book that were very transphobic, fat phobic, misogynistic, homophobia and there was a lot of sex shaming.
