Wasn't crazy about this one. It is a lot of writing and, though I like the art style, more sparse art through the realistic sections. This is probably to create a noticeable juxtaposition between the realism and imagination aspects, but it just didn't really do anything that fantastic to my tastes.

Would be fun to make treasure maps after reading! Maybe even write the steps for how/to find treasure.

I love this book! Anna and crocodile hunt for gold and then hide it to keep forever. I love the illustrations (especially the sunken treasure and crocodile's maps and pictures and the ride home) and the story is fun!

Very cute book about a girl and her alligator planning to find gold and executing that plan. Plenty of fun drawings along the way and a book that has a surprise ending that will make you smile.
Particularly amusing is the "look at my face. Can you tell what I'm thinking" bits...

A little girl and her friend Crocodile embark on a fantastic quest. The illustrations gradually shift from a softly pencilled gray to a rich, crayoned, child-drawn imaginary world. Splendidly in keeping with Harold and the Purple Crayon.

May 2016 - Ben might be at the young end for this book, which is surprisingly wordy for the content. However, he was completely entranced by the series of undersea spreads.
