Trying to get into nonfiction this year but I struggled. Interesting nonfiction book tho it’s my fault that it wasn’t for me

This book was phenomenal. The information was well researched and thought out, and the questions were well selected. However, listening to the audiobook was slightly less phenomenal. The audiobook didn’t have pictures (obviously) which would have made the book slightly better. The audiobook also included various websites and links, which were impossible to follow unless they were immediately written down, or the book was rewinded so they can could then be written down.

So, 5 stars for the information contained in the book. 3 stars for the above mentioned downfalls of the audio version. Total average stars: 4.

A quick read but a bit dissappointing.

In this book, weird hypothetical questions are scientifically answered. It's a fun concept that really makes you feel like a kid again. The author makes the science very understandable even for people without any prior knowledge. There are cartoons to further explain and the explanations are usually done in a funny manner.

However, a lot of the questions weren't that interesting and some of them were dragged out for too long. A lot of the questions I found interesting were ones he didn't even answer, but he instead joked about. Why even include those? It was also extremely clear that this book was written by an American, given that a lot of questions took place in the US, were compared to the US or used the US as a standard for measuring. As someone who isn't from there, this was off-putting at times.

This was a ton of fun to read! The stick figure cartoons made the reading experience even more enjoyable!

I will say, though, some of the questions asked...I have to wonder whether I should be concerned about these people or just chalk it up to curiosity? Cuz some of these questions were super detailed or super FUCKING weird. Speaking of, the "Weird Question Inbox" chapters were FUCKING HILARIOUS. Holy shit, some of the things people ask are...special. And stupid. And disturbing.

Anyway, this was a funny, informative, well-researched, and written by someone with a dark yet enjoyable sense of humor. I highly recommend!
