It's a really sweet novel that questions human decency but from what I remember it was a little slow and preachy at times. I do really love this idea of paying it forward though so if people read this book and are inspired to do good things for others I can't fault that.

I wish I could have read this without the faintest glimmer of knowing the story (having seen the movie all those years ago). Still a great read.

For once, it's not the characters that drove this story for me. They're fleshed out well, and very human, very vulnerable, interesting enough...but I was driven more by the idea than by the characters who were presenting it. The concept of "paying it forward" is something everyone in the world should take to heart. This book was in danger of being slightly preachy at times, but it's all completely forgivable because who wouldn't forgive such a fantastic, beautiful idea that could really change the world if everyone took it to heart?
There was a lot of language, which is one my one big complaint about the book - it was wholly unnecessary, and did nothing to add to the quality of the idea. Other than that, I enjoyed the book, and it even made me tear up a little at the end.

Concept ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Book itself: ⭐⭐⭐
Don't think this book aged well.
I also don't like all the stereotyping.
