Honestly, at some points in the book... you think to yourself “is there really a point in continuing?”.

I feel as though this book is very slow paced and some parts are repeated too often such as Reeve & Jaine hanging out but never having a deep argument. Not knowing their backstory, what Reeve is like … or his family.

This was a really compelling read, with an interesting premise. A bit on the far-fetched side, but the characters and plot are quite interesting. I definitely need to read the next one and find out what happened!

You know, mostly, this really holds up as a gripping, ripped-from-the-headlines kind of mystery. I got really sucked into the story and really felt for Janie and her family. Her mom has some gnarly 1990's fatphobia going on, which sucks reading, but also is very much a product of its time.

If this book came out now, the entire trilogy would be in one volume. The story doesn't feel incomplete, exactly, but you definitely know that there is more to it.
