Loved this book as a kid! Fun to rediscover it years later, even if I don’t quite adore it the same way.

I read this as a kid in the early 2000’s and reading it is a core memory for me. The hold this book had on me back then was STRONG. I felt so grown up reading about this subject matter and I remember staying up late with my reading light on under the covers because I couldn’t put it down! This is my first time reading this as an adult and I totally understand why baby Taylor loved it so much. For what it is, I enjoyed this reread.

It was good. Kept me interested. Sometimes Janie bugged me but I guess it was normal she was so freaked out. Definitely want to know what the next book's gonna bring.

Interesting idea of having a teenager find out she was kidnapped and that her parents weren’t her parents, but it would have been better if Janie was a bit more independent and not so hung up on Reeve. That whole relationship seemed forced and unnecessary. Characters weren’t very well developed nor very interesting. The story ends on a cliffhanger, but I’m not sure if I’ll continue with the series at this time.
