I read this book when I was in elementary school and loved it. I remember getting the rest of the series from the library and being very interested in Janie’s journey.
This book is an example of a good memory but when you revisit it, it’s really not as good as you remember.
I’m rewatching the movie that I remember loving too when I was younger. Now all I can think of is how damn traumatic this would be for a child to go through and how ridiculous so much of it is. I’m glad I liked it when I was younger, though.

I have very ambiguous feelings about this book. On one hand, it was easy to relate to Janie - her reactions and feelings when she found out that she might have been kidnapped and while she was trying to figure out what to do. Then again, it felt as if something was missing. I can't even tell exactly what.
However, I long to find out what will happen next, so I will certainly get the second book in this series.

I read this as a kid and remembered really liking it and I'm not sure if I ever got through all the sequels, so I've started them again. Loved this one.
I was stressed the whole time reading this that's what makes a good book for me. The anticipation was KILLING me.
Faintly above average. It's got a good plot and it's not overdramatic. A book I imagine young teens would really enjoy at the least.
I thought it was a cute book. It wasn't great, though.
