Not only is she the daughter of the pirate king but she’s the daughter of a siren. This comes with all types of special abilities. She also finds herself falling for a man who doesn’t care that she’s a siren but also doesn’t want her to use her abilities on him. Can they find the treasure island without facing the wrath of the pirate king? What about the sirens, their calls are coming louder now.

This was such a fun, quick, summer read! I read it in two days and when I wasn’t reading it - I was wishing I was reading it. I love the characters and their relationships. The found family in this book is so heartwarming and I love how the writing style pushes the plot forward. It was a good break from some heavier memoirs I’ve been working through. My only qualm was the slow-burn romance that really never had a big moment. I also feel it is a tad unresolved with some of the smaller characters but possibly that will be sorted out in the companion novel coming out in November! I just love a YA happy ending book that leaves you feeling good. Highly recommend to all.

Mystery, romance, tension, adventure, and found family all packed into an adventure with pirate royalty and fearsome sirens.  I can’t get enough of Alosa!! I loved following her through the pages in this truly epic duology. 🏴‍☠️🧜‍♀️

I have read Daughter of the Pirate King quite a while ago but I think I remembered everything important. The things I struggled with the most are the names because there are just so many different characters which all have unusual names and some of them are really unimportant.

I kind of like that Tricia Levenseller is not scared of killing of characters but it just isn't that impactful if you don't have much sympathy for the characters.
Even the main characters are not that 3 dimensional and I didn't feel for them much. I did like their characteristics and the dynamic between the characters (I'm always a big fan of strong female friendship and female leaders). Still I felt like reading a story about these characters which I enjoyed but I didn't feel their pain at a betrayal at all. I just felt very distant.

The part I liked was that it kind of felt like a female Odyssee. The dynamic on the ship was really fun to read about as were the challenges they had to overcome.

The main character was really oblivious sometimes and some of the relationships felt forced and strange to me.

All in all I know that there are people who will probably love this book immensely but it just wasn't it for me.

! Also I was sick while reading this book so that might have impacted reading experience.
