Mystery, romance, tension, adventure, and found family all packed into an adventure with pirate royalty and fearsome sirens.  I can’t get enough of Alosa!! I loved following her through the pages in this truly epic duology. 🏴‍☠️🧜‍♀️

I think this was better than the first book. Still a rich plot, but less misogynists for the lead to deal with. Lots more found family moments and just a bit of romance to spice it up.

In Daughter of the Siren Queen, we rejoin Alosa and her crew. They have returned to the keep of the Pirate King, and are prepping to sail to the island of the Sirens, when Alosa learns just what secrets her father the King has been keeping. Now it's a race against time, the elements and the kings fleet for Alosa and her crew. Luckily, Alosa still has a few tricks up her sleeve.

After reading Daughter of the Pirate King in one sitting, I ran to get this book...on my phone. I blame reading this book digitally for it being slow to get into, but I thought I'd mention that anyway. There was also a lack of Riden Allemos in the first few chapters, so that's probably more the reason.

But the book picked up, and I honestly enjoyed it.

I am obsessed with the main character. Alosa is the definition of a bad@ss female who retains her femininity. It's clear in the first book as well -- she'll withhold confidential information through literal torture, but she breaks when he threatens to cut her hair. There were moments like that in this book, and the descriptions of her outfits were so well done also. I'm obsessed with her wardrobe (I wish it was socially acceptable to dress like a fashionable pirate in the 21st century).

The romance was a bit slow, but yes...it paid off. The characterizations and personalities of Alosa and Riden were so clear and well-written. I feel like I know them. It worked so well, even when it didn't.

Read if you like(d):
x Daughter of the Pirate King (it's worth it)

I'm looking forward for the third installment of the series because I *need* to see more of Alosa and her crew and where their journey takes them next.
