Really really really enjoyable
The reason ive given it 4 stars instead of 5 is because i feel like it could have been better despite enjoying the story as much as i did.
I feel like it was fast paced and easy to read which was good, but also that maybe it was a bit too fast-paced and the major events that occurred happened so quickly.
I also feel like grief for death or just in general wasn't expelled as emotively as it could have been. As a reader it felt brushed by, something mentioned and then forgotten. As ive read stories where emotion and grief was explored more intricately i feel like this story could have been better composed in that area
However, i really enjoyed how this duology is focused on pirates and a strong female heroine thats quite different from other characters in other books.
Even the love-interest had a different take. He was more lowkey, emotional, and just not as good as the Alosa. Alosa is strong-willed, a captain, a leader while he was more like a shadow and more second. But surprisingly it was an interesting twist to the usual strong male ideology.
Overall, its a highly entertaining story to read and you fly by it, so highly recommend. Especially if youre looking to get back into reading.

i didn’t realize this was originally two books when i first started reading the series and at the end of this book i was like uhhh what the hell could the third book be about that would carry the story from where things just left off, which almost made this 3 stars for me bc i didn’t think it was a good transitional story but i decided to read the brief description of the third and saw when it was published altered that clearly.
