very very slow, i’m more into fast paced. plus im not really into age gap romances. i skipped ahead multiple times and it just never clicked with me. the characters made me feel gross.

I really enjoyed this book, but the main character, Aurora “Rory”, would occasionally make me cringe with the things she said and her “bird curses” annoyed me to all hell. Other than that, I have no complaints

I definitely could’ve done without the bird puns. Otherwise it was an okay mafia dark romance.

This was very interesting. For most of the book, I felt like I was in the dark about important information. The push and pull between Aurora and Angelo was maddening. It was also so hard to watch Aurora being abused by people and no one caring to help her. This is definitely a case of not even morally grey just all villain. In the end, I enjoyed the journey of reading and was anxious to figure out how things pieced together, but it took way too long to get to content I was happy with. The ending felt abrupt.

I’m officially hooked. The tension in this book was off the charts and so was the dark chemistry between Rory and Angelo. The bird word thing was annoying, but as the story went on, I got used to it. The church scene and the scene at the Halloween party? TOP TIER! This book technically ends on a cliffhanger, but just about everything is wrapped up. It just means we know some of the stuff to expect in book two.

Only thing I didn’t enjoy were the reminders that Alberto was disgusting and how that was tied to his weight. That man was horrible and disgusting all on his own, so making his weight part of the punchline was unnecessary.  The “villain is unattractive and disgusting especially because he’s fat” thing is played out. Can we let it go?
