This is a pretty good mafia romance.
I could have done with less build up and more spice, but it was really enjoyable.
It also sets the stage for a really great rest of the series!

I first read this in 2022 and since then I have collected special editions but never reread. I was worried that it may not stand up to my memory but honestly I enjoyed this even more time. The narrators did a great job of capturing all the characters and I loved the duet aspect of it.

This definitely scratched an itch and fed my need for therapy, but did not reach the level of Danielle Lori's [b:The Sweetest Oblivion|39083635|The Sweetest Oblivion (Made, #1)|Danielle Lori|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1528339619l/39083635._SX50_.jpg|60650311]/Made series.
Rory and Angelo were fine characters, but I didn't really connect with their respective stories. They share some great scenes with *excellent* spice, but as soon as the tension was out of the way I lost interest.
There were also a few instances where I felt that common tropes were just being cobbled together, and while that made for a fun read, I really felt cheated of an original story most of the time. And there were also some really, really stupid moments - which was very much in keeping with something Angelo's mother said a lot: "you always need some good to cancel out the bad". 100% true for this particular book.
Do I want to know what happens next? Meh. Would I like to read more on Rafe and Gabe to see if the darkness in them is on par with their brother's? Maybe. I won't rush to it, though.

I just didn’t like it. Wasn’t for me
it’s the fact that he gave her as a wedding gift a phone booth with a private sinners anonymous line that just does to me

"I'm Rory and i do bad things" what bad things? Like girl can't even swear and the author wants us to believe she's a badass??
And the bird puns were so annoying, like just say fuck. Nobody's gonna arrest you for that. And Angelo wasn't all that special anyways.
