This was another book I picked up for my graduate school class. I did have more hopes for it as I LOVE Wonder Woman (though not as much as my brother who named his dog Gal Gadot). And it is intriguing to learn more origin stories.

For younger readers, this is the perfect book. It tackles listening to your conscience. It is short and sweet and the pictures are my favorite part. But I felt like it had some plot holes--or writing that was less than stellar (which I have a hard time saying since Shannon Hale is great!)

Lame and childish. And the childish part I suppose is to be expected. Presumably this was targeting children. But the best of children's literature works for adults as well. And this didn't. But it wasn't bad. Sure I didn't like the style of the art but the art was okay. And the story was readable and there was a story. It could have been a lot worse. But it could also have been a lot better.

Diana, Princess of the Amazons, is bored. She lives in an amazing place full of potential adventure, but she has no one to share her experiences with. She discovers the hard way that we have to be careful not to let our loneliness lull us into friendships that may not be healthy.

This action-packed, middle-grade graphic novel has vivid art and a story sure to appeal to adventurous children. Only children, in particular, may resonate with it. While this isn't one of those stories that will stay with you for a lifetime, it is a book that can help a young person to cope with the difficulties of the transition into adolescence and the loneliness that often accompanies it.

Appropriate for ages 7 to 11.

This was great! I love this Diana-as-a-child narrative because we all know Wonder Woman, sure, but she wasn’t ALWAYS. What was she like before? Superhero Amazon or no, everyone wants a friend.  I loved this.
