Herron's dry humor is more restrained in this entry. That said the pacing, the plot, and character work are seamless. This is the most prominent Slough Horse novel so far. Every character is developed in some way, amidst the many narrative curveball. This is a peak modern spy thriller, with a dash of satire.

of the four SH books I've read so far I think this is my favorite. But why didn't River get
thrown in the Thames in the show??!!!!? missed opportunity.


not sure if this is a popular sentiment but I do like Emma Flyte and tbh in excited to see her in the next book. maybe I'll changed my mind on that in London Rules but idk! I like her!

Not sure if I have anything of substance to say but I liked this one a lot and am so excited to get to the next one since it hasn't been adapted yet
