A unique twist on existing fears of the singularity, the idea of a truly self-aware AI developing consciousness, and perhaps the first time in the series where murder isn't the start of the investigation. I'm intrigued to see if we get further interaction with The Librarians; there's certainly room for the magical tech introduced to make a reappearance. Still, I think I prefer when Peter's not undercover, and when he's dealing with the more absurdly fantastical than plausibly sci-fi. Happy to report the next in the series seems to be starting out that way! ☺️

Peter is working at a tech company that for vague reasons, never met a Hithhiker's Guide reference it didn't like. That's delightful. We invoke Ada Lovelace. We learn about a shady society of powerful librarian magicians which of course I'm totally here for. I still have questions about the end, but I think I'm meant to.

I enjoy this series. The tech setting was an interesting change. It is fun spotting nerdy easter eggs too.

A fantastic book!! On of my favourite in the whole series. Twisty and turny in a very spy thriller way, very fitting for this instalment’s escapades!

A little bit disappointing in comparison with The October Man and his previous few books. I felt that this story was less well told and would like him to return to the German link please!
