I read this book without knowing anything about it. I don't even think I read the synopsis. I like going into a book without any preconceived thoughts. This book follows Rylee Creed, she is a single mom who has just lost her brother in an accident. Her brother left Rylee his share of the bar he owned with his best friend. Rhodes Walsh is the best friend and also a single dad. Rylee and Walsh don't get along very well at first. Both are very deep in their grief and they are not sure how to move on. However they are both attracted to each other. They begin spending time together with their kids and they turn to each other in their grief.

Rhodes is kind of grumpy and I really love that in my fictional men. He was also a great dad and the scenes in the book with his daughter were really sweet and funny. I think it was the dirty talk though that made Rhodes

A girl walks into a bar...

The tragedy that has her rushing back was not what Rylee Creed had in mind for her homecoming. She walks into Bent Pedal to see her brother's partner sitting on a bar stool drowning his sorrows. He's not bad on the eyes, but that doesn’t mean she's going to fall head over heels, especially since she already has one man depending on her. Her son, Gage.

Rhodes has given a lot to the place he considered his second home. With Trevor gone, he finds out he will have a new partner, in the form of his best friend’s little sister. The first time he saw her, she was standing in the rain with her face to the sky, with tears streaming down her face.

She reminded him of a firefly, a bright red-headed light on the darkest day. He has to resist her any way possible. He only has enough compassion for one lady in his life, and that is reserved for Peyton. His daughter.

However, she will not let her brother's final wishes for her to step into his shoes and keep his legacy alive with Rhodes Walsh fail. Their first meeting doesn't go so well. In fact, Rhodes puts his foot far into his mouth, and his surly mood is not fit for company. He is prepared to up his groveling game and will show her the meaning behind the sweetest nickname.

There’s no way they can work together, but their kids are going to show them how its done. Will these two stubborn adults find a way to listen to the universe, and realize that maybe they can be more than just business partners?

I have to say, I didn't think I would be replacing Landon Winters as my number one of Harloe Rae's 'men.' Rhodes has given him the shove to second place! This man and his roundabout ways of romancing Rylee are the moves of fantasy. He truly is a unicorn. The heat and banter between them is absolutely STEEEAAAMMMY!!!

Also, these kiddos are in a league of their own. I loved all their 'kid-speak', and the way they are constantly getting their parents to think on the fly is hilarious. I think this book has become my new number one of Ms Harloe's. Hands down her best work yet.

Amazing Read!

“Only a matter of time….Until?……You tell me what’s stopping you from falling in love with me.”

I loved every aspect of this book. The main character share so many similarities you can’t help but feel like they are soul mates. Their shared grief over the loss of her brother and his best friend, along with being single parents brings them closer to the point there’s no denying the fire between them. The kids are hilarious with their not so secret matchmaking. The grump and the sunshine have an amazing ending together.
