Is it a prerequisite that every book with lesbians have a tragic ending? Such poor decision making from the main character

Just couldn’t get into the writing style or main character.

I really wanted to love this book because I love this author and I think having queer stories and characters are essential to making life better (not just me but the world, too!).

But I found the story to be meandering and slow. While I like the characters and concept (and it finally got really good at the end), I'm not sure I'll read the next one as it was just overall a bit dry and lacking complexity.

I liked the book when I read it, but was then informed that the author has been accused of and perhaps convicted of sexual assault not once but twice.

While I could find no concrete proof, there is enough out there to suggest it may be true and I’m unable to put it aside. It’s not worth the risk.

Long and winding but never feeling like it was going any place. I wanted to like the characters but it felt like a lot of the story was people being clueless because they refused to talk to each other.

This book was everything I've ever wanted and more! I CANNOT WAIT to read more of this series, it's a great story and it has amazing characters. 10/10 recommend I swear to God.

This book is one of the best fantasies I’ve read in years. Incredible and innovative world building that still uses the bones of old favourites. A rich cast of believable characters and also fabulous representation of queer people. I can not recommend this enough, I’ve been in a book slump for so long but this is like a breath of fresh air.
