It has been quite some time I wanted to read The Shadowhunter Chronicles and the number of books and the order to read them was overwhelming and confusing to me. Finally, I decided to go chronologically through it.
The story takes place in late 1870s London, where the concept of how people, esp. women, used to live was much different than it is today. Also, the protagonist, Tessa, is very young, and her emotions trump logic or consistency in several instances. In the very beginning, Tessa's representation of the classic heroine who doesn't listen but puts herself in harm's way was unenjoyable. I understand where she is coming from and the reason behind her behavior, but there were times I felt she was plain selfish and thought entitled to receive help. Also, her overprotectiveness was a little off-putting; after all, Nate isn't a baby. Will was utterly rude, and his behavior was unacceptable, but the epilogue makes me hold my judgment. Every other character in the institute has been a gem to Tessa, especially Jem. Also, Jem could be a good philosopher. One of the quotes I liked of Jem:
I loved the twists, playing with the emotional strings for ulterior motives, and the budding romances. I enjoyed how the characters developed as the story progressed, and I hope to love them by the end of the trilogy.

It’s those times, I think, when our lives have altered but we still long for the time before everything was altered—that is when we feel the greatest pain.

! Cassandra Clare you are one of my favourite fantasy authors as of now! I should have read this years ago. I don’t usually read a nearly 500 page book in 4 days! But this 😍 Team Jem all the way!

I didn’t think Clockwork Angel was as intense as the Mortal Instruments, but I still loved it and I'm excited to see how the story plays out.
