I really liked other books by KM, but this one really did nothing for me, there is nothing unique about this story or dynamic

Why, why?! I really, really wanted to like you!

I have had this book on my TBR for months and was so excited to read it today… now I am regretting it. This was a disappointing read for me.

The story was bland, so, so bland. Nothing much happened. It needed something…plot, angst, something. As it was, a whole lot of nothing happened. I wasn’t really invested in the romance which kinda needs to happen to enjoy a romance novel. Porter’s character never really clicked for me. The story is about a mechanic shop and we don’t really spend much time there but a crap ton of the story was devoted to the vet shop which is less interesting imo.

The writing was just fine.
There were a few editing and continuity issues but not enough to distract from story.

I don’t think I will be continuing this series, especially since the next book is Gates and he is a wholly unlikeable, immature, 40 year old man-child.

I have heard great things about this author so I will give her books another go sometime in the future.

Absolutely a cutesy HEA gay romance! Totally feel-good with very minimal angst, which I appreciate given that these guys are in their mid-40s. However, the conflict went from being there, to disappearing in two seconds. How can they both be so insecure about a relationship and then decide that their wrong so fast?
I’m a sucker for an HEA, but I think the way we got to this one was a little too good to be true.
