Disclaimer: I have voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy from the publisher via Edelweiss+, thank you!

Eve of Extinction is a short zombie horror graphic novel. One day a hurricane comes and the rain changes every man it comes in contact with into walking body horror. Two mothers, one biological and estranged and one adopted (no lesbians here fellas, sorry) have to find their daughter until she is devoured by the zombie men.

It was a very good premise and the idea of rain causing people to mutate was really interesting but sadly the book lacked this atmosphere that I usually enjoy in this sort of media. It was short and everything was happening very fast to there was almost no suspense, no exploration of an abandoned city ravished by the zombies. The plot was moving forward relentlessly, not leaving the reader to catch a breath, and while I didn't mind that I also feel the graphic novel would benefit from simply being longer.

Another thing was that the art style inside sadly looks quite different than on the cover. It's terrible but the characters suffer from a real some face syndrome, to the point where if they didn't have different colored hair and outfits, I probably wouldn't be able to tell them apart. I have mistaken the daughter for another girl multiple times, especially in the zoo scene.

All in all, this book was just okay to me. It wasn't terribly bad but it wasn't even close to excelling among other post-apo kinds of stories with zombie plotlines. You can read it if you have a chance but in a few weeks, I probably won't remember anything out of it.
