medium-paced

A 70 year old therapist grieves her best friend’s death with a lovely supporting cast of characters. No real plot, just character development. Nice for what it is, but not exactly what I expected it to be.

General disclaimer: this is less of a review and more of my notes so i can describe the book in the future.

A coming of age about a 70 year old woman who has to come to terms with the death of her best friend, the repression of her sexuality, and how she wants to live the rest of her life

  • oh my god this book made me so emotional
  • very good snapshot of LGBT issues before/during the 2000s
  • very focused on Magda coming to terms with never knowing what could have been with Sarah
  • loved the depiction of mourning what could have been, and of taking small steps forward
slow-paced
