I most definitely recommend everyone to read this book.
Jan Fabel is the protagonist of the book, a murder detective of the Hamburg Police whose latest case is a serial killer who themes his murders on the Grimm fairy tales.
I originally came across this book on GoodReads when I was looking for books that were themed around fairy-tales So when I found this I was delighted. But not as much as I was as when I began reading it. (I should note that I have since discovered that this is the second part in a series, however not having read the previous instalment did not in anyway detract from the experience and pleasure of reading BG)
Russell is a divine storyteller, his characterisations of all characters, whether they were minor or central were beautiful. The plot lines are breathtaking and I don't think I've read a book quite like it.
Completely deserving of 5 stars and I shall be giving it to everyone I know to read!

Omg this book was so boring. It had so much potential. Such a neat story idea, and it was completely wasted. Way to much blah blah blah!

This book kept me at the edge of my seat from start to finish. It had me guessing right up to the end. Great read if you enjoy thrillers and suspense books.

I liked this: the notion of a serial killer using the tales collected by the Brothers Grimm as his 'killing manual'. But then, sometimes, my choice of fiction takes me to some black, bleak and grim choices.

This is the second of the books by this author, and I need to hunt down the other two.

If you like crime fiction with an interesting plot and some well developed characters, this may well be one for you.
