I actually really liked it and the resort-summer camp feel. I also love the chosen family sub-themes. I thought it was cute but also realistic in that neither character was perfect and faced real-life challenges. And it ended really nicely.

I'm so sad to write this as I adored Every Summer After, and it was my first 5* read for this year. However, this book most definitely did not have the 'IT factor' for me. I found both the FMC and MMC quite infuriating with continious lack of communication, and the story seemed very far-fetched considering this huge feelings formed after a one time chance encounter.
I thought this was cute! I do think it has some pitfalls of the romance genre, but I still enjoyed the read. I will definitely pick up another Carly Fortune book in the future.
Fern meets Will one summer day at the end of her college career. Faced with returning home to the life that’s expected of her or charting her own path, she can’t help but be charmed by Will. They have one epic 24 span together. The story is told in a mix of the past when Fern and Will meet, the present, and journal entries written by Fern’s mom, Maggie.

Possibly my favourite Carley Fortune so far! All these books just make me want to be in a Muslim’s chair, reading next to a lake.

I enjoyed this book and it was a quick read but I’m not sure the plot totally worked in a modern setting. The characters had the ability to confront each other about things years before and simply chose not to do that…for reasons that are pretty thin. I think it would’ve worked better if it was set in the 90s when looking each other up was more difficult. I get they tried to explain it but it definitely felt like they just simply…didn’t try. That was the biggest flaw of the book to me.
