this book probably would’ve gotten a higher rating but unfortunately I got dumped when I was halfway through and reading a romance book during a breakup fucking sucks.

2.5 ⭐️ I am disappointed because I loved Every Summer After and I was very excited to read another book by this author with a romance based around a lake.

The book was well written but the plot was hard to believe. The two of them meeting one time and still 10 years later pining over each other feels a little off. It was hard to imagine the intense connection between them. I would have liked to see them getting to know each other more in the “now” rather than flash backs to the one day they met in the past.

I really enjoyed this one. I related so much to Fern, and I found her a very lovable character! I also really liked Will and Jamie. I did find the dual timeline a little bit confusing and had to go back a few times to check events that I misread or misremembered, but other than that it was great! Very heartwarming read and romantic, and the representation of anxiety and intrusive thoughts was so accurate.
