This book is #26 in a series I have not read so listening to this took me a minute to figure out who everyone was and I had to pay attention to pick up the long history of some of the characters. There are basically two FBI cases being worked and the mistake I made was expecting them to connect at the end. Now I realize that one was a storyline that continued a story that has extended through many books and the other introduces new people. I was disappointed. I wanted them to connect. Instead I felt like I read an episode of a crime drama that has been in for many many seasons.

DNF at around 45%

First of all, it could be because this was the first book that i picked up from the series!

But also not really!
The pace is slow
The culprit is known
The "secret" hero is known
The thrill is non-existent
The story is bland and boring, in my opinion
I stopped at a scene where the 2 ladies, a police officer/fbi and another one, were kidnapped and almost killed, struggling in the car, and i still was not intrigued!

I dont know if a few months down the line, i gathered some curiosity to pick this up again, i might continue, but i highly highly doubt!

I looove fbi/investigative thrillers, but its hard to captivate the audience!

Its a miss

I got hooked on this series a few years ago and enjoy the personal relationships that are explored as well as the latest mystery.

As always, Washington DC itself has a strong sense of place throughout the book.

This book is action packed with twists and turns. If you are a fan of the FBI tv series, you will enjoy this book.

I liked the child music prodigy mixed with the rival mob gang and a little romance between two characters.

This book is part of my 24 in ‘24 list.

This is one of my favorite series and my only complaint is the book doesn’t last long enough for me! Coulter has a way of keeping you guessing the whole time along with bringing in old and new characters to make the book connect and stay exciting. I can’t wait for the next one!
