I am hitting myself over the head for how long it took me to actually get past the first few pages of this book. This is definitely one of my favorite historical romances and depending on the longevity of my love for Benedict and Lizzie it might earn the spot of the favorite. I never expected to love their dynamic so much, I confess from the get go I wasn't convinced. I know they hardly knew each other but during her time as a seamstress I was losing hope. It was that very first sex scene that won me over. He worships her and I love every second. All of their problems weren't the fault of Benedict at all, sure there were a few misunderstandings, but he is a good and honest man and such a likeable character. I swear I was falling in love with him alongside Lizzie. He never minces his words which makes me doubt my past tastes - I used to only read romances with very posh male leads, I could get used to more Benedicts. They're such a good match because Lizzie matches his energy so well and is the true definition of ride-or-die. This girl went from being waited on to slumming it as a seamstress to living out of a trailer and never so much as complained. I just can't get over their dynamic, he's so protective and actually follows through by being an attentive lover and amazing husband. My standards are officially raised, bravo Alice Coldbreath!
