Lizzie and Benedict

Benedict is an acts of service KING. He just loves caring for Lizzie so much and is also realistic that she doesn't really know how to do things.

If you hate miscommunication this book is for you - they COMMUNICATE, they SIT DOWN, they RESPECT one another. Seriously where are more books like this? I want more like this.

There's no big conflict between the pair - it's lil conflicts around them that they face as a united front even if that means filling in the other person later.

Contains:
NO third act break up
COMMUNICATION
Travelling fair based story
Family dramas
Working class romance
Four spicy scenes plus a few fade outs.

Been trying to find a non Amazon copy of this FOREVER and my library FINALLY came through (take THAT Jeff Bezos)!! Anyway, I loved this - it's simple and doesn't contain a lot (if any) exciting action, but it's one of those historicals where the differences between Lizzie and Benedict are played out believably (of course they're going to have to learn how to communicate his every third word is a grunt and she doesn't know what to expect from him), without making me want to lock them in that caravan until they figure themselves out. I also really love when authors give seemingly mild female characters determination and curiosity and an iron backbone.

I am hitting myself over the head for how long it took me to actually get past the first few pages of this book. This is definitely one of my favorite historical romances and depending on the longevity of my love for Benedict and Lizzie it might earn the spot of the favorite. I never expected to love their dynamic so much, I confess from the get go I wasn't convinced. I know they hardly knew each other but during her time as a seamstress I was losing hope. It was that very first sex scene that won me over. He worships her and I love every second. All of their problems weren't the fault of Benedict at all, sure there were a few misunderstandings, but he is a good and honest man and such a likeable character. I swear I was falling in love with him alongside Lizzie. He never minces his words which makes me doubt my past tastes - I used to only read romances with very posh male leads, I could get used to more Benedicts. They're such a good match because Lizzie matches his energy so well and is the true definition of ride-or-die. This girl went from being waited on to slumming it as a seamstress to living out of a trailer and never so much as complained. I just can't get over their dynamic, he's so protective and actually follows through by being an attentive lover and amazing husband. My standards are officially raised, bravo Alice Coldbreath!
