Ok it’s got a dumb title but wow what a sweet read. Really enjoyed a historical romance that wasn’t about dukes and such- just normal people figuring it out. I loved the descriptions of the fair and the daily life in the wagon. Lizzie was a great character- in a rough situation but maintaining her own character so well. The relationship with Benedict was really sweet and I enjoyed watching it develop. Great find.

This is a fantastic book. Surprisingly little plot, it's more of a slice of life/settling into life which was triggered by the incidents at the beginning of the book. It really works, though. These characters are well written. I hope the book was well researched, cuz it was basically an exploration of fair life. It's the first time I've read about this topic and it did a good job of holding my attention. I could barely put the book down.

This one hit different. I love Lizzie and Ben so much. The environment of this book also felt so much more real than the previous book in this series. While Mina was often shuffled off into her parlor or the kitchen, Lizzie was in the midst of the activity of the fair and having her own adventures with a fuller cast of supporting characters.

This is also the only book of this series that has the MC continue his fighting career, and highlights why he’s good at it and has him missing it. I really appreciated that aspects of the story.

Also Sebastian was everything 🐶

So refreshing to read a historical romance about middle class people! The writing is insanely good, I can't believe this is self-published! Benedict and Lizzie are so sweet and lovey dovey, they communicate well, and there's no unnecessary 3rd act breakup. Heroine doesn't heel to whatever bullshit thrown at her either. There's also a very sweet epilogue💕
