A lot better than the first book.
I was significantly less frustrated with the characters and overall plot, though I still have my qualms. 

I’m so glad we are away from Tamlin for the majority of the book, as I really did not like him in the first book and highly disliked his actions in the beginning of the second. I even extremely hate him for the last part of the book as well. I only really missed Lucien, but I was really surprised and upset by him a lot of the time he was in scene.

I really love all the new characters we’re introduced to from the Night Court; they all have their own motivations that feel realistic, but in our reality and a fantasy setting. They feel properly fleshed out for the most part. The relationships between each of them also feel plausible, along with how they came to be. 
The descriptions of the settings were pretty good and felt pretty immersive, especially since similar are often used in visual medias already so I could easily refer to something I’ve already seen to visualize the surroundings.
It’s not the best written thing I’ve read, but certainly a lot better than the first book, so that’s why I’ve rated it higher but not much higher than the first book.

Wow, such a different feel from the first book of the series! The spicy scenes got maybe a little too graphic for my taste but that's just personal preference and definitely not a knock on the rest of it. The story definitely kept me coming back for more,

although I am a sucker for a good enemies-to-lovers plot.

While I love this book, it always feels like two books to me, which is why it only gets four stars.  I love the characters, the enemies to lovers, the intrigue, but it never feels like one book.

The first third of this book had me so frustrated and upset, but it all came together in the end. There were some lines that were corny, but others were so impactful and made me so emotional, which I was not expecting at all. The plot also picked up a lot. As much as I want to be a hater my heart strings were being yanked around like crazy.

This was so much better than the ACOTAR, I found it to be much less faffy and there was more progress in the plot. Rhys and Feyre's relationship is infinitely better than that of hers and Tamlins

not to mention the mate business because damn.

and I was very invested. It is a long read but I would honestly say it's worth it. Excited to read book 3!
