This book is why I love Laurens books so dang much!! She makes you fall in love with each character and hooks you from the very start with her witty banter and hilarious chapter titles! I LOVED The Proposal Play. Best friends that make a marriage pact. How does it get any better??

Asher and Maeve have been best friends for 10 years, and it has always been platonic between the two of them. Neither one has been lucky in love, and at her brothers wedding, they make a marriage pact. Fast forward two years, Maeve wins Asher in a charity auction where their date takes place in Las Vegas. They always have the best times together, and nothing says Vegas more than an Elvis wedding. They cash in the marriage pact just for laughs, but when pictures leak, they have to play along to save Maeve's big break in her career.

The relationship between Asher and Maeve was the absolute sweetest! They had such an ease around each other, and I loved seeing Asher realize he had been falling in love with her for years! He was slightly obsessed with her, and I loved it. Maeve was quirky and fun, and I just adored her character so much! And the chemistry! My goodness, the chemistry!! It was so good!! The banter they had with each other was so fun and flirty. And the support they had for each other was just beautiful! I could go on and on about them because I loved them that much! OBSESSED!

AUDIO: This was a duet narration by Vanessa Edwin and Robert Hatchet, and it was amazing! Perfect, really! They played off each other so well and had me smiling and laughing throughout the whole book! I HIGHLY recommend the audio if you are an audiobook lover! 10/10!

Thank you, Lauren and Good Girls PR, for this eARC and ALC!

4.5 stars

This is the third book in the Love and Hockey series featuring hockey star, Asher Callahan, and his best friend, Maeve Hartley. Maeve is also his teammate Beckett’s sister.

To save Asher from a woman wanting to use him, Maeve bets on a date with him at a hockey charity event…and wins a trip with him to Las Vegas.

Two years earlier Asher and Maeve made a marriage pact—that if she needed a husband, he would step up to be it. Asher is Mr. Fix It and he wants to give Maeve an escape from her career frustrations, so he suggests that as their next Big Adventure that they get married.

Kinda weird and extreme reason to get married, but whatever makes the story work. They are best friends who are both in love with the other (and they both didn’t realize it.)

It’s a mostly low angst story. There is a mental health representation with Asher having some obsessive fix it behavior.  They both love each other, but are afraid to lose their friendship if it didn’t work out.

I listened to the ALC along with reading the ARC. It is narrated in DUET format with Robert Hatchet and Vanessa Edwin. So good! Their performances made the story so much more enjoyable.

Thank you to the author for an advanced readers copy and an advanced listener copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

What would it be like to end up married to your BFF after a marriage pack? We find out in The Proposal Play that follows long time besties Asher (Hot Hockey Player) and Maeve ( Artist).  Not only is this a great story with the most hilarious banter between these besties and lots of yummy spice but theres a lot of emotion. Watching these two separately trying to decide how to handle  their changing  emotions was probably my favorite part: There wasn’t a thing I didn’t adore about this audio book, the duet narration is always my favorite. Robert Hatchet and Vanessa Edwin played Asher and Maeve to perfection. Robert has a nice deep voice that made those scenes HOT. The last several chapters had me tearing up but then cheering for these two. Another amazing book by Lauren Blakely.

Lauren Blakely just keeps killing it with this series! Asher and Maeve’s story had me hooked from the moment their Vegas wedding went viral. The chemistry between these two was electric, and the slow burn of their relationship evolving from friendship to romance had me swooning on every page. Asher’s thoughtful gestures (he cooks! He buys her toys!) and Maeve’s vulnerability as she embraces her feelings were so well done. Add in the perfect mix of humor, steamy moments, and heartwarming support for each other’s dreams, and you have one hot hockey romance! As far a narration goes, I could honestly listen to Vanessa talk in my ear all day long! She and Robert in duet were the perfect pair for this book!

ONE SENTENCE SUMMARY
When best friends Asher and Maeve get married in Vegas, their plan for a quick annulment is derailed by viral wedding pics, leading to a fake marriage that might just turn into something real.

Thank you @laurenblakeyly and @hambrightpr for the ALC and ARC of this book!

Maeve and Asher are so amazing together! I love them so much! Asher is the sweetest and yet commanding (in the bedroom) but it is so easy to fall in love with him. Maeve is so fun, determined and loyal. Maeve and Asher’s relationship was built off their amazing friendship and overtime I loved seeing them start to realize how much attraction they have for each other and start acting on the attraction! They have outstanding chemistry and are so supportive of each other. This book touches on many vulnerabilities due to past experiences. Maeve worries that she is “too much and Asher has anxiety. I liked how the author included mental health topics and how they can be private and how not everyone knows about them. Seeing how therapy became a way to help with their mental health was so important.

Asher’s friends are so supportive of their relationship. I loved when they made lists about how much he cares for Maeve. Knowing Maeve’s brother who is Asher’s best friend was supportive of their relationship and knew that Asher has been in love with her for a while.

I loveeee the tropes happening in this book! I thought it was funny and hot and I am really enjoying Lauren Blakely’s writing!

This was such a fun, lighthearted read! I love a good marriage of convenience and a hockey romance, so this book was right up my alley. It’s a friends-to-lovers story with great communication between the characters and a lot of sweet, supportive moments. The romance was adorable, the spice was fantastic, and overall, it was such an entertaining and fluffy read.

I listened to the audiobook, which was fantastic and made the story even more enjoyable. My only critique is that the book felt a bit longer than it needed to be—some parts could’ve been trimmed without losing anything essential. But everything included was still enjoyable, and it didn’t take away from how much I liked the story. I’ve read one other book by Lauren Blakely and really enjoyed it, so I’ll definitely be diving into more of her work!

Asher and Maeve are EVERYTHING! From best friends to a marriage of convenience to lovers—these two set the pages on fire. The spice is spicy, and Asher Callahan may just be my new book boyfriend. Hockey, cooking, a dirty mouth, and knowing exactly what you need? Swoon-worthy! Another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ hit in the Love and Hockey Series!"

If you are looking for a friends to lovers romance that kinda has it all then this is your sign to grab this book. I had a great time reading it, I love Asher and how cute he was from the beginning when it came to Maeve. I loved how they gravitated towards each other and how supportive they were of each other from the beginning.
Maeve is a sweetheart but she knows how to fight for her dreams, but mostly how she fights for her relationship with Asher.
I gave it 4 stars because for my personal taste there was a little too much spice. Sorry, I’m not opposed to spice scenes in books, but I usually prefer to read less spice and more about the characters and their own story.
Other than that I loved the story and how it evolved. These two are two peas in a pod and they truly belong together. 🥰❤️
