I could not put this book down!! It was genuinely a fantastic read. It also made me feel smart for figuring out things before they happened 😂

I think this is very much a YA book so my review might be a little harsh since I am not YA. The magic system feels very “let’s throw every type of power possible into this book somehow” which I don’t love. The language and conversations feel juvenile and the relationships do not get ample time to develop into what they ultimately become so they feel rushed and incomplete. Some of the ending I predicted pretty early on but some I did not so that was a pleasant surprise. I feel the character development could be much better/consistent.

This book made me feel stupid. That ending tho!!!!! I feel like the world is a little underdeveloped. Isla did make some stupid decisions. But generally I liked the story. Does anyone else picture her starstick being a child’s toy wand?

great idea, execution needed work. struggled to follow the theory and world building (still can’t picture the islands), and I fear we’re too near the Sun of Rhysand here
