I would actually give this a 3,5. This is a book about murder, so it feels kinda wrong to call this cozy, but it was a cozy read, I can't lie. It's not the most complicated story, but it's perfect for the time of year.

The Christmas Guest by Peter Swanson was a fun book club pick for December. This novella follows an American student in England who gets invited to join her rich friend’s family for Christmas at their manor house in the Cotswolds. This was a short, quick, gripping read. I really liked the English countryside rich people setting - always a fan of a rich ppl problems story. The mystery kept me intrigued throughout and I definitely did not predict that ending. Would recommend if you’re looking for a fun seasonal read with some suspense. 🎄📚
Lovely little noir Christmas story. For a short story, it packs a lot of twists and turns, not a roller coaster but subtle. Nice touch in the end ;)
Delightful. Surprising. Very short, very to the point. Hugely clever. Recommend.
I went into this novella blind, and was a bit surprised at the events of the story. Told from dual POV, using Emma in present day and Ashley's diary from 1989, the presentation was unique. The pace of the story kept you moving right along, which I appreciated, but nothing about the story itself really wowed me. The second half of the book does have a bit of a surprise, and the ending itself kind of makes you question some things. Overall, it was fine. It was a nice short read, but wasn't a huge standout story for me.

I started this book back in December 7th 2024 and I stopped reading this book as I thought there would be too many posh words but there wasn't. it was a quick read that will help me get further with my book challenge and I am glad that i stopped reading it as it gave me a chance to read different books. I decided to go back to the book to read other books I was meant to be reading and on my goodreads current reading list. I would recommend this book big time.
