I’m not sure what all these raving reviews are. I thought this book was cheesy and predictable. I was disappointed with The Kind Worth Killing and thought this book would redeem Peter in my eyes, it did not. The ending is always the most predictable outcome and the way he writes women’s voices is absolutely out of touch. He should try writing MMCs because his understanding of women is shallow. All of his FMC are controlled by their jealousy and obsession with men. It’s boring.
This is the perfect Christmas thriller! It’s so short (less than 100 pages) but it still manages to wrap things up by the end. I really enjoyed it and the diary POV. It also had a twist I didn’t see coming.
this was pure tell and i didn't care about anyone in this tbh :((
I was so surprised by how much I liked this! This was the perfect cozy murder mystery. This was Christmassy enough without feeling cheesy. I actually didn’t see the twist coming and thought for such a short read, it really packed a punch. This was my first Peter Swanson book, and if he can write a novella this well, I can’t wait to see what his novels are like. Would definitely recommend for a super fun read that you can complete in one sitting!

Peter Swanson's books can be hit or miss for me. When I love one I love it, but a few I have not enjoyed at all. This novella might be my favorite thing I've read by him. I LOVED it. It was the perfect length for the plot, and the writing was superb. Even though I read it during the heat of summer, I felt like I was in December. It was clever, original, creepily festive, well-paced, and had authentically written characters. I also love that he didn't try to deliver twists for the sake of being shocking. I highly recommend this one.
