I have gotten this book years ago and I have been excited to read it for some time. I knew that it would be a sad read so I have been bracing myself leading up to reading this. This story follows Ezra Faulkner who used to be popular until a personal tragedy leaves him in the dust of his former self. From here, Ezra reconnects with his old best friend and falls in love with the new girl on campus who has a mysterious backstory. This is a cliche story but is very well-written. I was invested in our characters and the chemistry between the friend group felt genuine. My biggest problem occurs towards the end of the book where it is unnecessary drama that leads to a crumby ending. The plot twist wasn’t that shocking as I guessed it earlier in the book. While I appreciate the ending for showing that all things can lead to an end and how others must live their life, I was let down by how this miscommunication resulted in a bigger tragedy for those involved. Solid read up until then.
